Election day

Posted: December 18, 2007 in Bermuda, bermuda politics

Not sure how much stuff I’ll put up today as some us are self-employed and do have to earn a crust! But in the meantime, it looks as though the Bermuda Sun has been quick off the mark with pics and reports from around the constituencies posted before midday. There is also a live link to VSB radio coverage for later on in the day. When I checked The Royal Gazette at 1 p.m., they hadn’t posted a single election day story and the RSS feed was silent.[Update: a short report posted at 2:49pm]  You can also follow the official election results, count-by-count at the Parliamentary Registry site which can be found here. There’s also streaming audio of VSB’s coverage here which you can pipe to iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Player, WinAMP or VLN.

Adding Gazette RSS to Mac OSX

Posted: December 16, 2007 in Bermuda, Technology

The Royal Gazette is at last getting with the times and adding RSS feeds to its site for news, sports, business and lifestyle sections. Unfortunately they won’t work within Safari’s excellent built-in news reader, so Mac users will have to download an app like NewsFire or NetNewsWire. Both are excellent – NewsFire has a limited free version ($25 for the full version) or you can download a trial version of NewNewsWire ($29.95 for full version). However, if you have a Google or Yahoo home page, you can easily add the feeds by clicking on “Add Content” (Yahoo) or “Add Stuff” (Google) and then “Add RSS” and copying the URLs. (By the way, if you want to set up a Google account and don’t have the required Google e-mail address, send me an e-mail and I’ll send you a free invite.)
