I’ve been busy adding bits and pieces to our family tree at Geni.com in recent months. It’s a great free site that’s easy to use and – more important – makes it easy for other family members to get involved and add their nuggets of family history. Ours is still very much a work in progress but hopefully it will provide a permanent record for our kids and descendants.

If you don’t think graffiti can be art, take a look at this amazing video –  just one of scores of giant graffiti and animations by Italian street artist Blu. I can’t imagine how long or how many photos it took him to do this but it is absolutely brilliant. Check out more at his YouTube channel or his very cool website. 

It used to be a sign of aging that the policemen were younger than you. Now I know I’m getting old when a US presidential candidate is younger than I am. Seriously, while it may be naive to expect too much of Barack Obama, surely he has to be better for America and the world than George W. It does make a change to feel hopeful about American politics for a change. Let’s hope they don’t destroy him – or worse – in the coming months. At least the rest of the world seems willing to give him a chance. So come on America, you’ve screwed up twice in the last eight years – here’s your big chance to put things right for once.
