Sheik to the new morality

Posted: September 15, 2008 in football

Food for thought from Rod Liddle of the UK Sunday Times on some of the questions posed by the flood of Arab money into English football:

“I wonder if there will soon be a separate entrance for Jewish supporters at Manchester City, or if they will be allowed in at all?

The club’s new owners wish the team to play exhibition matches and hold training sessions in Abu Dhabi, but it is expected that not all of the players will be invited to attend. Tal Ben Haim is an Israeli national and therefore not allowed to enter the horrible little country, so it is almost certain he will be left behind.”
