Lies, lies, and more damned lies

Posted: December 12, 2007 in bermuda politics

How does a Parliamentary candidate get away with spouting crap like this in 2007: “A UBP vote is a vote back to the plantation. It is a vote that will return the shackles to our feet!” It’s bad enough that someone like Lovitta Foggo is a candidate at all. What’s worse is that this woman is a teacher in the Government system. This outrageous comment typifies the level – or depressing  lack of it – of debate in this election and is right up there with fellow PLP candidate Marc Bean’s one the other day that the UBP had a “neo-fascist agenda”. “If they have the opportunity they will lock all of us up. It’s true,” he told The Royal Gazette. As Christian Leavy points out on politics.bm, it’s hard to know what’s worse – that these idiots believe this stuff or don’t believe it and say it anyway!  The only place Bean and Foggo are likely to be locked up after the election is in MAWI. Roll on December 18 and let’s get this sorry mess over.

    She’s a teacher? How sad.

  2. Heather McKay says:

You had me til the comment about MWI….(not MAWI by the way) We need to de-stigmatize at any opportunity…
    ….still holding the placard

From the ‘outside-looking-in’, I am absolutely horrified by the posturing and behaviour of the above mentioned candidates.

Whichever way you look at it, this rhetoric is bad for Bermuda’s community cohesion.

So depressing…when will it end? (Probably not on the 19th December)

    ps. Welcome back Chris!

  4. Chris Gibbons says:

Point taken, Heather – but you get my drift. Some of these candidates need some professional help!
