Media council plan comes under fire

Posted: May 17, 2010 in Bermuda, media, Uncategorized

Government’s planned Media Council has come under fire from many of the island’s journalists and overseas media bodies. In today’s issue of The Royal Gazette, Sam Strangeways takes a look at the arguments for and against the bill, tabled by Premier Ewart Brown on May 7.

Unfortunately the Gazette’s online coverage is shambolic with the main story being broken up as it is in the paper – one segment ends with “continued on page 8” and another starts “continued from page 4”.  Anyway, start here and then follow the related links, if you can, in the right hand column.

Yours truly is quoted in one of the pieces. You can read my submission to the Gazette in full here.
