For a sneak preview of tomorrow’s 3G iPhone, check out David Pogue’s review in the NY Times above. Pogue  gives it a qualified thumbs up, pointing out the missing links (still no cut and paste, video, phone-to-phone photo messaging, etc) but as he says, the devil is in the details – namely the iPhone 2.0 software and the iPhone App Store which will finally unleash third-party apps for the iPhone. Should be fun – and yes please, I’d love one for my birthday. Or Christmas, Hannukah. Any excuse really.

Stop moaning and move on!

Larry Burchall’s column in today’s Sun is well worth reading. He hits back at a recent white letter writer criticising him for daring to suggest that blacks “move on” when it comes to racism and refreshingly as always, Larry’s not afraid to tell it like he sees it. Here’s just an excerpt:

“Does it matter – to me – what white Bermudians think and feel about the past? No! Does it matter – to me – that white Bermudians haven’t apologized about the past? No! Do I need to see white Bermudians walking around in sack-clothes and ashes, wailing and gnashing their teeth about their past behaviour? No!
“In 2008, Bermuda is bedeviled by a national problem of under-educated, under-prepared, and under-skilled black males. This looks like a racial problem. It isn’t. It’s an individual and fixable national problem whose 2008 solution is NOT limited by what happened before 1960.”

Memo to self: must get around to buying Larry’s book, “FINE AS WINE: From coloured boy to Bermudian Man“, in time for my vacation reading next week!

Stuff White People Like

Just came across this site, courtesy of a mention on MacBreak Weekly. It’s an hilarious piss-take of politically-correct whites written by Canadian writer Christian Lander – or as he puts it: “This is a scientific approach to highlight and explain stuff white people like. They are pretty predictable.”

Sample: “White people will frequently show up to various events 15- 35 minutes early for no reason at all.”

And: “If a white person really, REALLY, doesn’t like something or someone, he or she may angrily say something to the effect of, “This is exactly the same kind of thing that Hitler used to do!” accompanied by varying levels of profanity based on blood-alcohol content.”

The blog has been so successful that there’s now a book, released this week. You can find out more about Lander in this LA Times piece.
