An update to my previous post about Spanning Sync, a useful plug-in of you use both iCal and Google Calendars. They’ve just launched the public beta of v2.0 which now also syncs Address Book with GMail contacts. Some testers have reported issues with Leopard but I installed and ran it with no problems (so far). As I use GMail almost exclusively now and we rely on Google Calendar for business – its easy to share and update across systems and mobiles – this added functionality is a real bonus.

Apple has added HBO to the iTunes store. Available so far are Seasons 1 and 6 of
The Sopranos, all of Sex and the City, and season one of Deadwood, The Wire, Rome, and Flight of the Conchords. Sex and the City, Flight of the Conchords, and The Wire are priced at the standard iTunes rate of $1.99, but The Sopranos, Deadwood, and Rome sell for $2.99. Boy, my Apple TV’s gonna be humming ….
OK, I take back what I said about Apple TV’s syncing problem with rented movies. While you can’t use the sync function to copy rented iTunes movies to your Apple TV, the solution (courtesy of the iTunes help section) turns out to be simple: just click on the Apple TV icon in your iTunes window, click on the Movies tab and the rented movie should show up with an option to “Move” it to your Apple TV and vice versa. Sorry, Mr. Jobs.
