One of the best films I saw this year was Soul of America, a 2012 documentary about how Charles Bradley, a former James Brown impersonator in his 60s, finally got to make his first album, No Time For Dreaming. Bradley is one of the most humble and sweetest human beings you could ever wish to meet, let alone the owner of a gloriously funky old-school r and b voice. Few undiscovered artists can have deserved success more. Victim of Love was another collection of great original songs like You Put The Fame On It and Strictly Reserved For You that sounded fresh and familiar at the same time.
