Wayne Furbert is now 48 ahead on the third count, Kim Swan leads in St George’s by 4 on third count! El James (PLP, Warwick N Central), Darius Tucker (UBP, Hamilton South), Nelson Bascome (PLP, Pembroke E Central), Louise Jackson (UBP, Pembroke S West) are now dead cert winners but no seats have changed hands as yet.
We’re into the second and (in some cases third) counts in many constituencies and some interesting stories are shaping up. UBP leader Michael Dunkley is slipping behind Patrice Minors in Smith’s North (4 at the first count, 20 at the second), Kim Swan (UBP) and Dean Foggo (PLP) are slugging it out in St. George’s West, Zane DeSilva has taken an early lead over UBP incumbent David Dodwell. No sign that Jennifer Smith is facing a repeat of her narrow 8-vote win in St George’s North against Kenny Bascome, and Charles Clarke is surprisingly leading the former UBP leader Wayne Furbert, but new boy Darius Tucker already looks home and dry against Dr Brown’s mouthpiece Wayne Caines in Hamilton South.
No question about who is winning the election night coverage so far: ZBM hands down. With Rick Richardson moderating a panel of Julian Hall, Tom Vesey and Jerome Dill, there’s some lively cut and thrust going on and some good insight all round. Poor VSB looks sadly amateurish with Bryan Darby and Stuart Hayward, complete with headphones, peering at the Parliamentary Registry web page which they keep showing on screen to no effect – I have a 42-inch plasma and I still can’t make it out. Over on CITV, I think Al Seymour Sr. is talking to Ottiwell Simmons but there’s no sound. Al’s lips are moving, though …
